Firstly the Tea Party card - this will be sent to Janet and Bruce to bring some sunshine and smiles into their lives.
Secondly this is also for the Water Colour Wednesday challenge of using tissue paper watercolour.
Oh boy this was an effort. First of all I stamped the Tim Holtz Crazy Birds and cone flowers and fussy cut them out. Stamped the birds again on a floral paper and fussy cut the floral paper out and layered them on top of the original.
Next step was to create a tissue paper water coloured background. All was going well until remembered that did not have any tissue paper. Quick trip out to the local newsagent. There at the back of the pile under the rainbow of colours was a plain white packet. Then the fun began. Used distress inks to smooch on my glass cutting mat and then placed the tissue paper gently down on the squishy puddle. Right - not to lift it up without tearing it. Once, twice and third time lucky - a piece that I could use. I think my tissue paper was the economy cheap and very nasty brand. It was terrible thin. Anyway glued the tissue paper down on white card and let it dry. Stamped flowers in the background with distress inks and layered the birds up on top. Trimmed to size - and that is where the fun and games started. All around the edge the tissue paper started to lift necessitating a quick stick down again with more glue and left to dry. Once this was all nice and dry again I inked gently around the edges and again everything started to lift again. Another layer of glue again. As I said I think my tissue paper was very poor quality. Hopefully now that the card is finished it will hold together until it reaches Janet and Bruce.
I don't think Tissue Paper Watercolour backgrounds will be added to my "favourite" techniques any time soon. I found it very frustrating - but then again fun to try something new.
Hope you enjoy the crazy birds in their garden.

Sorry you had some problems with the tissue paper, but glad you persevered. It's fun and they should get a smile from it. Glad you joined us this week. TFS
Wow! You get a HUGE A+ from me! I am in awe of all you did here. I too struggled with my tissue paper. I found some but I guess it had a coating on one side. And it tore easily. Then I found some previously used tissue paper from a gift and it worked. I can't believe you fussy cut all those tiny details. This is a work of art!

Oh Helen - I've been there with the tissue paper tearing. I think if you have time, the best thing is to do it on a really good non-stick mat and don't try to lift it till it's actually dry. It tends to stick to a glass mat, which I always need to remember since that's what I usually use for stuff like that. Last time I needed some in a hurry, I gave up and used a big coffee filter instead after too many torn pieces. But your end result was worth the trials, and your birds in their coneflower hats are just adorable. They look fab in the their little floral outfits.

Your card turned out quit well with all the interruptions......you really outdid yourself with all the cutting of layers as well as the tissue paper. Your card is gorgeous! TFS

I am so glad you went the extra mile to do the Watercolor Wednesday challenge. Love your card and those birds are so cute with coneflower hats. Maybe if you try again with a different tissue, you will like the technique better. It is fun and I love cards made with tissue...including this one.

It's certainly not my favorite either and I didn't have nearly the trouble you did. But you ended up with a beautiful and fun background for these super duper fun birds!

I do believe this is the cutest thing I have seen done with the crazy birds. I love the paper piecing and those flowers for their head toppers just puts it over the top. Into my favorites.
