I'm your hostess in the Color Challenge this week, and I chose Daffodil Delight, Melon Mambo and Calypso Coral. The dessert option is to make a "Thinking of You" card (and send it to someone to brighten their day!).
As the title warns, this card really got away from me!
It started with Tim Holtz's video last Saturday, wrinkling Mixed Media paper, swiping with Distress Ink, spritzing, ironing, repeat, repeat. Then he used a stencil and Distress MicroGlaze and one more trip through a puddle of darker ink. When you dry the paper, the part that had the glaze on it resists the darker ink. I have to say, this was fun, even though a bit messy! (Oh, and except for the hour I spent looking for my MicroGlaze!) I used Mustard Seed, Picked Raspberry and Ripe Persimmon, which are almost exact matches for this week's colors, for my first layers.
When the panel was done, I cut it out with a tag die, but then didn't quite know what to do with it. So I kept adding stuff, adding more stuff, etc. The black die cuts around the Black-Eyed Susan probably are overkill, but it looked as though it needed "something." That die cut was lying on my desk, so I cut it up, and put the pieces here and there. Added a few gems and called it good! A true collage!
Thanks for stopping by. Please take good care of yourself, and I hope you can find some time to play in this week's Color Challenge.
