When I saw knots I thought about nautical knots, I made a shell shape easel card, scored the lines, sponged with wax crayons and odorless white spirit, stamped the images and made some knots with natural wool.

Wonderful easel card, Anita. The shell shape is super. Brings back memories of my mother buying scallops in their shells in the fish shop, for coquilles St. Jacques. The stamped knot is great across the top of the shell. And wool was a great idea - softer and less bulky than string or cord.
