The cover of this book is a field of Cranberry Red with a small gold square in the center that is embossed with a horse & rider. However, My inspiration came more from the fact that when my daughter bought it for me, the author was doing a signing at the store. He added the inscription "Enjoy the Ride!" - I actually have a stamp with that saying but it is teeny tiny and I felt it would get lost on my card so I fashioned my own. First I Stamped the Word Enjoy and fussy cut making the exclamation point a separate entity. Then because I am NOT a calligrapher - I wrote a page FULL of "the ride" with an Arteza brush marker then picked the 2 words that seemed to blend best with the stamped word and fussy cut them, too. For me the hardest part is finally DONE.
I used chalks applied with cotton balls to put in a softly hued dawn sky on my card base - die cut my riders and a single tree which I cut down the center and adhered.

I used to enjoy Westerns -I think we still have a couple of Zane Grey on the shelf. You say you are no calligrapher but I tell you, Linda, even if I wrote ten pages I doubt if I'd find anything I was happy enough to cut out and put on a card. I'd resort to the computer and old-style cut and paste. Yours looks pretty cool to me. And I love the softness of your chalk sky.

Oh that dawn sky is beautiful, Linda, the silhouettes of the riders and the trees really stand out! Love how you have designed the sentiment, too! Wonderful that this card has been inspired, by not only the cover of the book, but the memory of receiving it & the author's message~

I love how you photographed this Bubbles and shared the story behind it. Your calligraphy looks wonderful, I thought it was a stamp. Love everything about this mf.
