I made this card for this week's Alphabet Challenge letter of Q...can you spot my Q? I used the sketch challenge from last week to create this card.
The process of making this card was lengthy and amusing! I first did a practice ice cream cone to see if my idea would even work - I had to color it for my daughter to see what I was doing and agree that it worked.
I stamped and masked my ice cream using Distress inks for my ice cream and the cone. I then watercolored them pulling the color from the edges with the aqua brush. The cherry on top was colored using Copic markers. After everything was dry, I fussy cut it.
I thought of this dsp and thought it would be perfect...if not a bit busy. So I added the scalloped oval layer to help my cone stand out. My next problem to solve was the scalloped rectangle layer. I don't have any scalloped rectangles. I do have several scalloped squares and know how to do partial die cutting, but for this one, I needed to do partial die cutting in both directions to make my square wider and taller. I sort of achieved it, just don't look too closely because it is a little wonky on one side.
I heat embossed the sentiment and popped it up.
Now I want ice cream! lol Thanks for looking!

The cherry upside down could be a Q? Otherwise let me know where it is, cause I can't find it, lol.
Love, love that bright and beautiful ice cream cone dp. This is a very sweet looking birthday card for some sweet cupcake of a person! The white embossed sentiment on red looks fantastic!

Catherine, such a great creation with that yummy ice cream cone and you made me crave ice cream now, too! I agree with Shirl, the only Q I could find was the cherry by holding my computer upside down! LOL Fun card! tfs

I like this bright and cheerful ice cream cone card, Catherine! I like how you brought in the colors of the cone by using your aqua painter. I don't see any letter Q, unless it's what Shirl said. You have me stumped~

Catherine I saw 3 Q’s, 2 when holding my iPad upside down lol or maybe I’ve drunk too much coffee lol. One on the cherry on top of the ice cream, one of the cherries upside down and the r in celebrate upside down lol.
Great card and now I want ice cream. Yum. TFS. Happy day

What a fun/colorful birthday card this is Catherine. This ice cream cone is so realistic looking and beautifully colored too. I love all the colorful dsp you chose as well. You did a great job with your partial die cutting Catherine. Fun! I would say the Q in your card is the 3 scoops of ice cream (is that called quints?). The recipient is going to love this happy card Catherine. ~Karen.
