I followed Jennifer McGuire's Pop-Up Panel Cards tutorial to create this card for my uncle, whose birthday is coming up soon.
I die cut the balloons from rainbow colors of cardstock scraps. I shaded each by inking with Distress inks in coordinating colors, adding the color more heavily towards the bottom left side. I used the round balloon die from the "Balloons" set for the large main balloon. I heat embossed the greeting on it, and then inked it with Peacock Feathers.
I followed the instructions in Jennifer's video to create the mechanism. I did her trick of hand-cutting the slit for the pull tab, although I used my craft knife rather than scissors. After I had assembled the card, I trimmed the pull tab so it extends 1/4" from the edge of the card base, rounded the corners with my 1/4" Corner Chomper, and stamped the "pull" from the "Interactive Labels" stamp set. You can see the card with the balloon pulled back at this post. I decided not to do balloon strings, but just let the balloons look like they are floating. This card was not too hard to put together, though I did have to watch the part of her video where she did the balloon card three times to get the mechanism to come out right.
