I'm back in Minnesota after cruising in warmer waters and excited to be hosting this week's color combination. I've chosen Rich Razzleberry + Pretty Peacock + Old Olive with vellum as a dessert option.
I used this "Greetings from Minnesota" set which was designed for K & Krafts, (a Moorhead craft store near my daughter's place). I bought it to use the many greetings on envelopes for some of my out of state family members, but as I looked at the pretty images I thought they would be perfect for these colors.
The images were embossed in white on Shimmery White cardstock and watercolored with the challenge colors. I added a scrap of vellum from my stash - one that I had experimented picking up Old Olive ink (that had been applied to an acrylic block, and spritzed) with a piece of vellum cardstock. Reversible Old Olive/Pretty Peacock ribbon helped me hide the adhesive holding down the vellum and anchor the Ladyslipper. A few Pretty Peacock rhinestone polish off the card.
I so hope you can find some time to play along with us this week. I hope to see you in the gallery!

I had no idea that an orchid (lady slipper) is native to much of the mid to east US (thank you Wikipedia), so what a treat your card is showcasing both the orchid and the loon! Your watercoloring is just gorgeous and the torn edge of colored vellum adds great texture. What a fabulous design, Chris!

This is a lovely card, Chris, but what I love the most about looking at your creations is that there's almost always some new technique to learn about. Your patterned vellum is so pretty on this card, and ties right in. Love the duck image and sentiment, too!

I guess we have orchids in WI, never seen one. Your color combo is calling to me to participate. The images you have used are wonderful and your coloring makes it more so.

You don't have to be a fellow Minnesotan to adore this card... but I am and I do! This is perfectly done! Welcome back to MN... it's warmer than it was this time last week, for certain, so hopefully you found our weather welcoming, too!
