This card is one of 3 I made for the Layton's Legacy card drive. You can read more about that at Leah Lawson's website. The theme for this year's card drive is "Sensitive Sympathy." I remembered my cousin, whose second daughter was born prematurely and died a few hours later, telling me she had found a white feather afterwards. Apparently, that is seen as a sign of comfort from an angel in Heaven. So I decided to use one of the stamps from "Golden Feather" & heat emboss it on vellum. The inspiration for my card came from this one I found in an online search for "Golden Feather."
I stamped the feather twice onto a piece of vellum with Versamark ink. I first sprinkled on Wow White Pearl embossing powder, & heat set it. Unfortunately, it wasn't opaque, so I stamped over the feathers (I had not removed the stamp from my MISTI--thank heavens!) with Versamark again, and heat embossed with Ranger White embossing powder. I actually like the effect this gave. Then I die cut them with their coordinating dies.
I stamped the greeting onto white cardstock, and decided to fussy cut it. I have seen other card makers do this, and discovered it really isn't that hard. It also made this greeting--with its mix of ascenders & descenders on the letters--less "bulky."
I die cut a panel of cream cardstock and another of mint with the largest dies in the "Large Cross-stitched Rectangle" & "Small Cross-stitched Rectangle" sets, respectively. I adhered those to a white card base, and added my feathers with glue dots only under the base of the shafts. Finally, I adhered my greeting over the feathers.
