It's Tickle a Teapotter day and Denise (card crazy) is our guest hostess. Denise has challenged us to use blueberries or any other kind of berry on our cards. Blueberries are my favorite and I have four bushes out in my yard that are ALMOST ripe. But oddly, I don't have any blueberry stamps. So, inspired by her story of picking blueberries when she was younger, I chose to use blackberries on my card. When I was a kid, we had loads of wild blackberries along the woods-line and we would pick quarts and quarts of them. I thought there was nothing better than a cup of fresh blackberries on a warm summer night. So here are my blackberries which were not easy to color. I've popped them up on some woodsy papers with my sentiment cut out by my trusty ScanNCut. Here is where my card needed that one more thing, so I grabbed my little box of home made enamel dots (pony beads melted in the oven--do not try this in a closed up house--they smell terrible) and added one.

I love that you 'bake' your own craft supplies Jen. I so enjoyed your story and it reminded me of blackberry picking days as kids. Your card looks fabulous in design and colouring. Love it!!!

I love the colors here, and your coloring is beautiful. Homemade enamel dots???? Yikes, ambitious! We have a place in Maine that has TONS of blackberry bushes. Every year I pick them and make blackberry jam.

I put my melted pony beads on my card today too. We have blackberries, so if the birds don't get them all, they are wonderful. I love the image on the wood bg with doodling, mf. Stay cool today!

I love your pretty blackberries! I have a blackberry story as well. When I was a little girl the neighbors had berry bushes of all kinds. One Friday we decided to use the blackberries to make Indian paint on our faces and played Indian. On Sunday I remember having to go to church with faded, but still visible purple lines on my face.

Oh, tell me all about blackberries not being easy to colour! I'll try again with mine, but I think I need to go for a soft watercolour look rather than a realistic deep berry colour. We used to go to the woods near the reservoir each year to pick them. Now DH is happy to go anywhere we can find them, as blackberry jam is his favourite. The colours in the base layer are great, and I love that so subtle purple shadow under the berries - like a very faint stain. I always bring baby wipes to clean our hands off after picking, but they still stay purple for a while. Your melted pony bead looks good to me!

I agree melting those beads in the oven sure do stink. I am still melting a huge pile of them...my mom said she might come help me melt some on Monday. Oh she is in for a real treat. LOL! Super blackberry image and great paper you paired with it too.
