Thank you for hosting this special Teaparty Snietje. Of all the Teaparties in the world, oh how I wish this was in real life. We are sending all our love to the kindest, most amazing lady ...CherylQuilts. I hope we can create lots of sunshine for our very precious Cheryl.
Doctors orders are to relax and I can't think of a more relaxed image than Little Cheryl the Mermaid, floating in the ocean on her very own fish net hammock. The original image has her floating in a pond, the beauty of working with copy paper is the ease in which you can fussy cut. You would never know Little Cheryl started out in a fish pond.
To create the background, use a large sheet of polypropylene (Yupo), dribble on some India inks in a couple of shades of blue and green. Squirt on some water and take a small piece of polypropylene paper and use this as a tool to flick it in the inky puddle, smoosh and drag it around to spread the colour. Add more ink if not intense enough.
The ink doesn't actual soak into the polypropylene, it just stain it. Wipe any excess water off with a tissue or soft cloth.
Cut a piece of acetate to the exact size you want the background to be. Lay the acetate on top of the background paper, move it around until you get the exact look you are aiming for. Trace around the acetate so you know where to cut. I ended up with a dozen pieces, some look like the ocean, other pieces look like snow or sky.
This sweet little Mermaid is a Molly Harrison Digi image, printed onto copy paper and coloured with Prismacolour pencils, zest it pencil blend and highlighted with Copics.
After fussy cutting, I applied a gazillion liquid pearls and gold Stickles. While the image was drying, I scored a border on the polypropylene and on the card base. Adhere Little Cheryl and the fish net in just a few places. Our Cheryl will be able to foof up Little Cheryl's hair and net, on arrival in Florida.
Thank you for looking and I hope you get a chance to join in. Cheryl is so missed and I sure hope she will feel our love through all our paper hugs.

What a delightful mermaid, Susie and as always, such a clever and lovely concept for this theme, it's sure to bring a smile to our dear Cherlyl as she rests and heals! The background turned out beautifully, I had no idea Yupo could be used in this fashion, but it looks just as fantastic as any alcohol ink design. So glad to see you back after your sheep sitting adventure!

Fabaroonie. Just as well I have two of your mermaids already and know that this one is destined for Cheryl. Your background looks so refreshing and cool (as I sit here gently dripping sweat), and Cheryl looks very relaxed in her hammock. I just LOVE her tail.

Ahhh finally able to access your endearing little mermaid card! For some reason the system said I didn’t have access to your card, but here I am! Haha
Susie, your darling mermaid with liquid pearls is indeed charming & magical and to have her relaxing on the net hammock is pure genius! Cheryl is going to love this very special card!
I too would like to extend a big thank you for all the updates on Cheryl & Walt and glad they’re recuperating!
Warm hugs!

I cant believe you fussy cut her hair! Omgoodness!
The tail is fantastic.
I usually think of net as not a good thing from the ocean life's POV but as always you found a positive look on it-one of many reasons I adore you.
