I wanted another encouragement card to send to Foster Kids Charity. I decided to use stars instead of the circles in the sketch challenge. I also made my card A2 size rather than square.
This is actually my 3rd attempt at this card. The first 2 I tried stenciling the background with a star stencil, which failed miserably both times! :( So I finally gave up on that and switched course.
I used the insert piece of the "Glass Effects" dies & centered it on a piece of hot pink cardstock. After die cutting it, I backed it with what I call "screaming green" cardstock.
I die cut the stars from patterned papers from the "Take Note" pad. I arranged them on my background, but felt they mushed into each other too much. So I inked the edges of each with Mermaid Lagoon, which helped immensely. I glued them in place on my background, overlapping them and letting the 2 smaller ones hang off the edges a bit.
I die cut the "Awesome" from blue cardstock backed with Stick It adhesive, and the shadow from yellow. I carefully removed the liner paper from the blue die cut, so as not to distort it (or even worse, tear it!), then adhered it to the shadow. I glued that to the bottom of my card panel, leaving the top of the "s" unglued, so I could tuck my greeting strip underneath.
I stamped the rest of the greeting in Nautical Blue ink onto white cardstock. I cut that into a banner, then glued it down, tucked behind the "s" a little. I finished gluing down the "s," and adhered the panel to a white card base. I trimmed off the overhanging bits on the stars, and added some sequins with Ranger Multi Medium Matte. In the end, this card took just over 50 minutes to complete (not counting my mis-starts, of course)!

I absolutely love everything about this card. I can relate to making several versions to get the card to look right to me. You work paid off with this one. It's in my faves for future inspiration.
