I got the inspiration for my card from this one I saw on Pinterest. I liked the more shabby chic look, with the spatters & torn edge--not something I do often.
I cut a piece of watercolor paper to 4.25x5.5". I stamped the flowers, masked them, then stamped the stem on each. I heat embossed those in gold. I also stamped the 2 dragonflies around the background in Cracked Pistachio & Tattered Rose Distress Oxide inks. I replaced the masks on the flowers, then stamped the "Delightfully Delicate Background" in Tattered Rose in the lower left corner of the panel. It doesn't show up much in the end, but it is there if you look at it. I spritzed the panel with Gold Color Shine & Mint Perfect Pearls mists. I removed the masks, & used my Mijello Mission Gold & Da Vinci watercolors to paint the flowers.
For the distressed edge, I drew a guideline on the back of my panel 1/4" in from the right edge. I used a paintbrush & clear water to soak that area, then tore it, basically along the pencil line. With the back of the panel facing me, I made sure to pull the narrow part away from me, so the rough edge showed on the front of the panel. I then smooshed some Cracked Pistachio Oxide ink onto an acrylic block, & used my wet paintbrush to pick up the color and paint it along the torn edge. When that had dried, I used my paper trimmer to cut 1/8" off from the top, bottom, & left edges of the panel.
Because I wanted the mat to echo the flower colors, I took an A2 size piece of white cardstock and ink blended with Mustard Seed, Worn Lipstick, & Shaded Lilac Distress inks. When I finished that, I let the panel air dry for several hours, to ensure the adhesive on my main panel would stick to the mat.
I adhered the ink blended panel to a white card base, trimmed off any overhang, then used a combination of Scor Tape around the perimeter & some ATG adhesive (just in the center) to stick the main panel to my card. I used Shaded Lilac Distress Oxide ink to stamp the greeting.
