This card is for 2 challenges...Ways to Use It and also the Alpha challenge. K = Kindness
The Ways to use it Challenge relates to Nature and using things to do with nature. I have a beautiful orchid in my craft room....it used to have lots of beautiful white flowers until our winter arrived and all the flowers have fallen off...or maybe I over watered it...mmm.
Being a crafter I rarely throw anything away as I always think it may come in useful for a card or in my journal. That's why I had 8 dried orchids still sitting on my craft table just waiting to be used.
When I saw the challenge, I immediately thought of them. I used 3...yep there's 3 dried white orchids on there and I did originally intend them to stay white and to end up in a posy, but like most of my cards, things don't always go to plan.
I started by sponging the panel...I was trying to get the look of flowers fallen on the ground...again that plan didn't come to fruition so I thought, ok let's just plonk some pretty colours on here and see where it takes me. It was at this stage I noticed after picking up my pretty dried white orchids that they suddenly weren't that white.
So onto plan b....I'm now spraying them blue. Are there blue orchids anywhere? There are now lol. Why blue...it's my favourite colour but I still wanted some white to show through.
Back to the sponged panel. I've got out every ink brand I can get to in the colours I want...there's a few on that panel, and I'm sponging with my ink tool, then my life changing brushes thinking these will sort this panel out. I'm using baby wipes, my fingers, paper towel...anything to hand lol. It's at this stage I start spraying ink...and dabbing when I realise I can do some pouncing....so off I go pouncing away and I'm plonking on those colours.
Orchid laid on when I realise my original design hasn't happened and now I have one big flower instead of a small posy. All good and especially when I notice the middles of the flowers have merged and I can spy all that texture. Now I'm colouring that in and the marker pens are out.
It's still not doing it for me...so what next. I love cards where people have been splattering. I can never get it right but I'm now splattering with my white ink...can't see that, so I get out the blue. I should have used black but hey too late and no baby wipe or paper towel will move this blue.
Back to the panel...more pouncing....it needs some pinks. Out come the stickles...in green..pink...white...I'm liking this.
I return later and get out the wink of Stella...and wonder where my stickles have gone to...out they come again. Tag die cut stamped and added and more stickles plonked on...more rubbing and the dots added.
Did I give up...nope the photo made the panel look dark so I added more white and pink. IRL it's lighter than it looks at the bottom and very sort of mauve...grey..with blue and green and yellow and orange somewhere in there lol.
I love it...and even more I had such fun. Any challenge where I can just go and plonk on anything is good for me lol.
TFL. Happy day

My goodness Jayne, this is a true work of art! I thought when I first looked at your card that this looked like an orchid so imagine my surprise when I read it really was an orchid- fun! Didn’t the Beatles sing the ‘Long and Winding Road’? Just sayin’, grin! Your commentary was as much fun to read as you happily arriving with this card. I like the square. I like the artful orchid boldly occupying the upper corner. And the smashed, sprayed, rubbed, blended, and swished bg. Fun, Jayne!

Love orchids and your card Jayne! Sorry your flowers fell off. You are right in that it's best to only water when it gets super dry. I love that the plant will last for at least 3 or more months but who knows what the reason for the blooms to take a dive prematurely? (sorry did not mean to carry on, lol)...Your background is just amazing and anyone would love to receive this card!

What a wonderful way to give your orchid flower a second life. The background is wonderful - a great combination of colours and so nicely finished off with the splatters.
