Yay, it's my favourite time of the month - Tickle a Teapotter. My fellow Aussie mate, Sue from Sydney is hosting this months Tickle....and it's all about faces!
I love Molly Harrisons greyscale colouring pages, this is one of my favourites. As per usual, the image is printed onto copy paper and coloured with Prismacolour pencils, Zest it pencil blend and a few swishes with a blue Copic marker. Before cutting, gently wipe over the colouring with a walnut stain foam blending tool.
I cut the background design away and then laid her on various backgrounds from my stash to see what worked best. The background is smooth white cardstock and brusho powder. The soft muted effect is due to the background being the third piece of cardstock dunked into a pool of Brusho and water on alfoil.
Note: Brusho's are super messy, I have found the best way is to use a sheet of alfoil, sprinkle on the Brusho, squirt on water, dunk your first sheet of cardstock in it, swish around a bit. Before dunking the 2nd sheet of cardstock add more water, repeat for the 3rd sheet (I always spritz the 3rd sheet with water). The difference between the 1st and 3rd sheets of cardstock and incredibly different in colour and intensity.
The image is adhered to the background using a jumbo school glue stick, making sure that the entire back of the image is covered in glue (this prevents air bubbles). Once it was nice and dry, I trimmed it on all 4 sides, inked randomly around the edges with walnut stain distress ink, doodled a border, then adhered to card base using double sided tape.
Because I don't want to send a sad looking card to a Teapotter, I added a suitable comment to better explain her shattered look. I typed the sentiment using Word Art and copy paper.
Thanks so much for looking and I hope you get a chance to join in Sue's fun Teaparty.
EDIT: I forgot to say that I sat the copy paper image on a rough tooth paper pad to colour her skin. Also I do not use Zest it or a blending pencil on skin. The rough tooth paper underneath gives a nice speckled effect.
Gelatos, distress crayons, and every other waxy crayon is pretty much the same, just different brands and packaging.

This is sooo fabulous, Susie...and so totally you. That sentiment is too funny, and I just ordered something a minute ago and forgot to add the promo code. Luckily it was only a $10 item and the promo was only worth 5%. While i was on my tablet i decided to check SCS and was lucky enough to catch this amazing card. What pretty shades of blue. Just stunning.

I wasn't familiar with Molly Harrison so I went in search of her images and they are so varied and beautiful, I can see why you love them. Your lady is especially amazing with all the emotion she is transmitting, so I loved how you tempered the impact with the sentiment. Such amazing colored pencil coloring and the background is another one of your spectacular creations! Can you tell? I love EVERY bit of this!

OMG, this is sooooo fun. You turned a super sad face into a really funny one - that takes talent, girl. Talent is also required to make the bg, color this amazingly, and even to use a glue stick and stained blending tool in the ways you do. Gorgeous card - the person receiving it will be very tickled for sure. Hugz
