I am in a Google group and June's challenge is a red, white and blue card. Doesn't have to be patriotic. I feel so blessed to be a citizen of this country; we live better than much of the world, even if we don't have a lot. But I am not a Yankee Doodle Dandy kind of patriot. I honor the fallen and those who have served but I'm very aware of how conflicted and contradictory we are as a nation, especially when it comes to immigration and foreign policy. I'm constantly puzzled by us.
You could call this patriotic but it is more thoughtful than that. No song and dance about this country for me. When I saw this card of Michelle's, I loved those dots on the background and how subtle the image was: F4A376 Making My Own Spring by mfb at Splitcoaststampers
I had some bubble wrap on my desk from Friday's MIX challenge so I used that to create my dots. I diecut the dove and circle of leaves three times each and layered them. Added the vintage postage stamp with Lincoln and his famous words.
We're going through some tough times now. I think we all need to be a little more 'purple' than red or blue. We've always been contentious; John Adams and Thomas Jefferson didn't get along, although they did reconcile to a point and died the same exact day: July 4, 1826.
Michelle, you have such a gorgeous, well done gallery. I'm please you were chosen. I faved several cards today.

Great bubble wrap bg, Jean. I like your words/post too. So fun to get a glimpse of your thoughts here - I see you are a history buff too. Super card/case. Hugz

This is gorgeous! You put fun things together on this. No favortism, No us vs them, that was our message at church today. That's how we end up being purple instead of red and blue! Very thought provoking card!
