I'm celebrating this week's tea party recipients' with this fabulous Power Poppy cake. I wanted to make the polka dots gold and was going to do it with gold gel pen, but then I remembered that I have an embossing pen now. So I colored the polka dots with it and embossed them with gold EP. I also stamped the ribbon in the corner and wrote in a 50 with the embossing marker to emboss it with gold. Seriously, how did I live so long without this marker? I decided to check out the Power Poppy blog for inspiration and found this Creative Confetti Sketch Challenge. A great sketch to showcase some gold paper. Turns out I'm all out of gold glitter paper, but I did have this fabulous gold holographic paper. Truth be told, I was struggling to decide between this and another gold DP and my hubby actually helped me choose. I think he chose right.
I hope Beth and Lanny feel really special when they receive their card shower. They are a sweet and fun-loving couple, and I'm so glad that we were able to join in their celebration!

Oh goodness, what a scrumptious looking cake - I want some NOW. I really like the little dots -they remind me of the candied mimosa flowers which I have seen in France but never here. Yes, embossing markers are great. Actually, one of my very first crafting buys was a set of different coloured embossing pens - I had embossed hand-written sentiments in all my cards for a while.

I have loved that cake since I first saw the set. This is a fantastic use of it. Your dots have height and the holo paper (which I am addicted to) is a great choice here. This is a lucky couple-they are getting a LOT of great cards!! They will be thrilled!
