| | I made another card for this week's featured stamper who is Catherine (cdimick). I have admired her rose cards since she started making them, and this one in particular really caught my eye: Graduation Die Cut Fun by cdimick at Splitcoaststampers. I love the blue background and how it contrasts with the graphic white of the layered rose die. Some of Catherine's other rose cards feature water coloring, and I was in the mood to do some watercoloring today. First, I stamped the blue panel with an older Hero Arts border die over and over and over. I was limited in the width of this mat layer because of the width of the stamp and it was barely wide enough for me to cut this rose die out of. Then I cut the rose out of watercolor paper and silver glitter paper. I adhered the blue, die cut stamped piece over the navy layer. Then I added in the silver glitter outline of the rose. When I cut the rose out of the watercolor paper, I used press n seal to keep all the pieces together. I just had to carefully remove the rose outline. Then I watercolored the rose and leaf pieces while they were on the press n seal. Once dry, then I added more press n seal on top of the watercoloring and removed the press n seal that was on the back. I added liquid glue to all the pieces and they fit right into the silver outline piece slick as can be. This is going to be thank you card for a friend whose favorite color is blue and her favorite flower is a yellow rose. Catherine, thank you very much for the wonderful inspiration because this card would not have been made without you. Thanks for looking today. ~Karen. |
