I originally was making this card for Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge #308 (http://atlanticheartschallenge.blogs...etch-308.html), but missed their deadline since their challenges stay open for less than 5 days. I want to share it with you anyway, because it has an important message I'm sure for someone in our lives.
The four panels were cut from two different sheets of Designer Series Paper from Stampin' Up! (SU) retired 2010 "Sweet Pea" paper pad. The top sheet is of birds sitting high on the wires up in the sky. The second sheet is of birds all standing on long legs at varying heights, perhaps in the tidal waters along some shore. The panels are all 1-3/4" wide. They are glued to a mat of SU Chocolate Chip cardstock, which is in turn glued to the SU Marina Mist card base.
The sentiment from SU "High Tide" is stamped with SU Early Espresso ink onto Whisper White cardstock. It was then die cut with the smallest die from the SU "Labels Collection" framelits dies. I created a blue mat for it with just a tiny margin by scanning the die cut label into my Brothers ScanNCut2, then adding 0.04" all around the label. I took out the original stamped label, then put a piece of the blue cardstock in my SNC2 to cut the mat.
A piece of blue sewing thread was looped several times and glued to the back of the matted sentiment label, then adhesive foam strips were used to mount the label onto the card front.
The card was pretty easy to make, so I am rating it's difficulty as a "1" out of a possible "5". A good card for beginning stampers. If it wasn't for the birds being covered more, I would have made a wider blue margin around the sentiment. But the constraints of the pattern paper made it almost impossible to get birds on the lower panels further down on the strip. I felt the two patterns of birds up "high" and birds down "low" on the beach were important to the theme of the card, so I can live with the tiny margin.
