I was craving some mixed media style crafting and I knew I wanted to include a bird on the branch, so I started with the green bg paper from a Take Ten magazine. I stamped the music stamp 2x at the top end of the bg paper using Walnut Stain DOX and blotted with a paper towel to remove some ink. Next, I used pink and green gelatos with a floral stencil in the upper left hand corner. The corners and edges are sponged with Walnut Stain distress ink.
I die cut the bird from some heavy cs and tried the smooshing technique with brown and pink DOX inks. I used a feather stamp to add some texture to the breast area but it left some harsh lines that didn't look right, so I kept adding more ink and even used some gelatos until I was satisfied with the results. I used a pencil to etch and create texture lines for the feathers. The bird is resting on a branch die cut from K&Co paper and its eye is a Copper Penny crystal nuvo drop. Stamped the sentiment in black.

Julie, I love the gorgeous bird image on your beautiful card. The bird reminds me of a robin. The background is beautiful with the various stamping. Great piece of art, Julie!

Fabulous mixed media. I like the bird on the branch. Soothing greens with a touch of other colors. Wonderful sample card for the Sketch Challenge. Thank you!
