The Friday Free For All Challenge, F4A465 - Celebrate Things That POP! - 01/18/19, was to make a card with some element that pops or implies popping. I may be stretching the challenge a bit, but I'm hoping that my barn door that pops open on its own will qualify!
This started out as a simple test strip. I was stamping the horse image, which I had just received from EBay, and decided to do a quick test to see how it fit my barn door stamp, which I had never used.
After quick stamp, cut and glue job direct onto the strip, I discovered that the stamps worked well together and that it was too darn cute to just chuck into to waste basket! At this point things got a little dicey because I hadn't planned ahead. I worked backward, cutting the strip to fit the width of the barn door, carefully coloring the exposed white area and finding sentiment stamps that fit the space available.
This ended up being a Valentine theme card because I rediscovered the sweet, heart filled sentiment - it has been in my collection forever (date on stamp 1997!) and has never been used. Yes, I'm horrified!!! The other sentiment on the inside of the barn door is also one that I had never used (newer stamp - 2003!)
I finished off the card with a cascade of tiny die cut red hearts, touched with a bit of Nuvo brush Glitter pen for a bit of sparkle.
This Valentine will be sent to my dear friend who moved back to Pennsylvania. When she lived here, she would always take the back roads through farm country just to catch a glimpse of the new colts out frolicking with the mares on sunny day. This one's for you, Katrina, because thinking of you warms my heart!
Thanks so much for dropping by to look at my pop out barn door bookmark. You warm my heart, too!
