My title comes from the fact that my favorite author, JRR Tolkien bought his first car in 1931, sold it after WWII and declared that he wished the internal combustion engine had never been invented. He compared motor cars in the city of Oxford comparable to the evil in Mordor. He biked everywhere the rest of his life.
I have no car images but I remembered that I had this old pop up card of my Grandpa Meyer's. He collected cards, had a bunch of these car pop ups, no idea why. He wasn't that interested in cars and was pretty similar to Tolkien in his demeanor and interests. So I reworked the card with some travel sentiments and an oval frame for the front image. Front car is a Cadillac, inside car is an Olds. I think it's funny that pictures of the Old West are behind the Olds. I used Tolkien's famous quote on the inside, he's probably cursing me from beyond. The artist's name is V. Hancke and the card was printed in Copenhagen. A chauffeur is driving the cars and I think the lady in the Cadillac can afford to travel wherever she likes.

Such a cool take on the challenge which was a real challenge if you have no car stamps! Brilliant inside and out and I love all the interesting stories and thought put into it.

How cool that you have these cards that were your grandfather's -the images are wonderful and you've added some great elements to make this your own creation. Loved reading that information about Tolkien.

Great pop up card from your grandpa that you had and love the sentiments you added too. Interesting fact on Tolkien. I will have to see if my hubby knew that about him. He is a huge Tolkien fan.
