To be honest I didnât know what was meant by a boutique card, but it was explained in the first lesson: quick to be created, simple cards inspired by stationery from trendy high-end boutiques. The motto is less is more, but with a little luxury.
I was inspired by two techniques from the class and decided to combine them:
⢠Adding foiled or metallic details
⢠Working with luxury papers.
I have had some disappointing experiences with foils in the past and thought after this class I would give this technique another chance.
Because of the upcoming Christmas Season again I decided to create a Christmas card. I die-cutted the Layered Snowflakes out of double-sided adhesive paper. It was crazy, but I did not want to use a ânormalâ color, it had to be green snowflakes. I attached the snowflakes to a white cardstock by removing the protective paper from one side. Afterwards I removed the other side and I laid a light green foil over the now sticky snowflakes. I pressed the foil firmly against the snowflakes with my fingers and last but not least I put the cardstock and foil through the Big Shot to attach the foil completely. It has a wonderful green shimmer when the light is falling onto the foil.
In the video working with luxury papers, woodpaper was used. I have real, very thin woodplates for inlaid working. I die-cutted three triangles out of the wood and attached a double-sided tape near the bottom of each triangle and repeated the process above with the green foil.
I glued the âtriangle treesâ to the cardstock and I stamped a Christmas message across one tree.
I attached this cardstock to a grey cardstock and to a white card and I am happy with my clean and simple boutique card.
