I was looking for barbecue-inspired images in my stash and while I could have used the LetÂ’s Barbecue set from Lawn Fawn, I wanted to see if I could find something else instead. When I spotted the Beerafella image, he looked to me like a guy enjoying a beer at a backyard barbecue, so I pulled him out.
I was able to finish this card with five minutes to spare, despite the coloring. What saved me was finding a piece of cardstock I used for my background piece. It was a test piece I had done when I bought my first jar of Glitter Kiss ages ago. I used a dot stencil on blue cardstock, thinking it would be used for a watercolor scene later down the road. ItÂ’s been sitting in my pile of scraps I knew I could use eventually for a year, I think.
Then, as I was putting together my card for the VSN, it caught my attention and I realized that I could work it into my project because 1) the dots look like bubbles, which works with the beer bottles in the image and 2) the colors were actually a perfect match for my color combo. Which is funny because in order to quickly find inspiration for my VSN projects, I had a look at past ColourQ combos and the one I had selected had Blue Brocade and Bordering Blue in it – which happens to be the two colors in my test swatch. Serendipity…

Cindy, I love EVERYTHING about this card! The colors, the whimsical image, and the fun background.
Thanks for playing along with my challenge!
