I created a whole slew of Summer-themed cards to send to Send a Smile 4 Kids, of which this is one. The woman I send to said she would take this theme through the end of this month. I sent them off on the 25th, and she will get them today--just in time!
I began by choosing my image, and then looked through my sketches to find one that would work. I cut a piece of watercolor paper to size, and printed my image on that. I used my Inktense pencils & a damp paintbrush to apply the color to the scene.
For the background, I cut the polka dot paper from "Hello Sunshine" & the popsicle paper from "Soak up the Sun." I have a few Summer-themed patterned paper pads, and am eager to get them used! So this project was perfect for that. I adhered both papers to a white card base. I decided to add a button for the embellishment in the sketch, and chose one from my stash that looked kind of chocolate-y in color, to go with the ice cream theme. I used the button to help me decide where to place my image panel, so the design wouldn't look crowded. I threaded pink, green, & white baker's twine through my button, and tied it in a bow. After adhering my focal panel with ATG adhesive, I glued my button on with Perfect Paper Adhesive liquid glue. I left the card with no greeting, so it can be used for whatever occasion.
