This card was made for Try Stampin' on Tuesday sketch challenge #365 https:/TryStampinonTuesday.blogspot.com/ with the optional theme "bold sentiment".
I knew I wanted to use patterned paper somehow because of all the "white space" in the sketch. When I spotted the retired Stampin' Up! "Sycamore Street" Designer Series Paper in my stash, I used it as my color scheme and the card evolved from there!
The card base is SU Pool Party blue, with the required sketch angled panel being Whisper White matted with Calypso Coral. The center round element from the sketch was created using the dies from Stephanie Barnard's lovely Sizzix thinlit set called "Regal Flip-Its Card". I used three of the medallion dies to create the Calypso Coral and Pool Party piece that was fitted together much like the "Inlaid Die Cuts" technique.
Because the optional theme was "bold sentiment" I used two different ways to make the sentiment stand out:
1. Used Basic Black cardstock to create a large contrast to the softer card colors
2. Die cut the sentiment three times, then stacked and glued them together to give more of a bold 3D effect
Finally, because I used black for the sentiment, I needed to use a black ribbon to help link the sentiment to the card itself. I tied the ribbon around the entire angled panel and made sure its tails stayed in place using Mini Glue Dots.
The angled panel was mounted on the card front using adhesive foam strips to raise it up and give added depth and interest.
this card was very easy (once I figured out what I wanted to do), so I am giving it a difficulty rating of "2" out of "5".
