First of all, I want to thank the amazing Color Challenge Team for allowing me to be a guest designer this month. I love how you support each other, and it has been a real joy to play with you. It has helped me make a card each week, and I hope I can keep it up.
As you can see, this week's colors work well with flowers (how delightful for me...hehe!). I pulled out two stamp sets that I've not used before. One is a new one, and another is one I've had for a while. Once again, I am in need of a card to encourage a dear couple who is going through health problems. I am using a new set of wonderful sentiments by Gina Marie Designs and stamped my flowers by The Cat's Pajamas to allow enough space for one of the sentiments. Actually, I love this sentiment because it's actually a portion of "Great Is Thy Faithfulness," a hymn my daddy used to sing. What a beautiful voice and such a loving heart he had.
Anyway, back to my card. I did a test run with the images using an acrylic block (who uses those anymore?). I used a technique for adding some "texture" before coloring the main images. I used a W1 Copic marker and lightly colored around all the flowers and leaves. Then I used some Colorless Blender with an old sock and smooshed it over a stencil. It actually worked fairly well, but it's lighter and more subtle than it appears in the photo. I colored the flowers and leaves, keeping them a bit loose and sketchy. It's neat how well Tranquil Tide works for leaves. Once all the coloring was done, I added the sentiment using my Mini MISTI tool. I added a few little dots at the ends of some of the leaves and flowers for interest, and I also used a corner rounder punch and adhered my colored panel to some Tranquil Tide card stock. The card seemed to need something else, so I added several sequins...and then it was done! Voila!
Oh, I did pass on dessert this week. It's hard to make a one-layer card when you use Copic markers and X-Press It.
That's it for me today, but thanks so much for taking a closer look. I hope you like it, and I especially hope that you'll join us this week for the Color Challenge!
Have a beautiful week! And hugs to all! xoxo

Cheryl, thanks for playing with us this month! I have loved every card you've made, and have learned so much from your descriptions, and received so much inspiration. This card for example: I love what you did with the background. I really thought you'd stamped on DS paper. I am definitely going to try that technique. Love the shading on the flowers, too!

So beautiful, Cheryl. I love that stencilled background and the flowers are gorgeous. Nice touch to put the little dots at the end of the leaves. How wonderful this sentiment brought back wonderful memories of your daddy...precious memories.

Cheryl, this is just such a gorgeous card with those delightful blooms and lovely sentiment. How wonderful that the sentiment reminded you of your father!
I love your card design with all the flowers placed so perfectly and the wonderful background you created with the stencil and Colorless blender (note to self to try this technique, I'm just learning to use Copics). It's a wonderful card of encouragement, and it will no doubt will bring comfort to the recipients.
It has been an absolute delight to have you as a guest designer for the Color Challenge this month! Hugs to you!

This is really pretty, Cheryl. I love the color of your flowers and your “textured” BG is a nice touch - will have to give that a try. I’m sure your thoughtful card and beautiful sentiment will give your friends a virtual hug and some much needed peace.

Very pretty card Cheryl. You background is lovely and I'm happy you explained how to create it. I've tried that technique before but never thought to do that for a background. Thanks for sharing!
