What a fun gallery this week's Featured Stamper, Tootsy, has! I didn't get very far into the gallery before I fell in love with this beauty. I love the loose watercolor background and the striped sun. Also love the coloring of the flamingo.
So, I set out to recreate the scene. I couldn't resist because my new friend DonnaJeanne sent me this cute flamingo stamp set with her sweet teapot tickle card. Since the flamingo is itty bitty, I thought it would be fun to make what Angelnorth calls a "scrapling". She made this lovely card for the December Dirty Dozen gallery and I thought it was such a great idea. The card is the size of the leftover piece of paper you get when you cut the paper to make a square card. I started with the light blue background and smooshed and sprayed some ink onto a piece of trash plastic to make a quick watercolor-y background. Then I cut the stitched landscapes and stamped some dots on the. I stamped the leaves and cut the sun. As I said, I really loved Susy's striped sun. So I found some gold and white striped paper and sponged on some yellow to make a sun. Then splattered with water. Popped the whole panel up on foam squares and then had to make an enevelope to put it in. My cousin's daughter turns 8 this week and I think she'll really like this. I had a really good time making it! Thank you, Susy, Donna, and Joanne for the inspiration!

Thank you very much for your kind words on my work. I love your card too, the sun is really bright and radiant. And adding the work of the dyes down the map is a nice addition! Really well done.
Thank you very much for making a detour to visit my gallery...
