I made this card for a dear friend from church (Sharon). I have known & loved her for over 20 years. Today my personal devotions referred to Psalm 1:3 and was titled “Annual or Perennial?” Sharon loves her flowers, so I immediately thought of her. My devotions talked about annuals having their advantages- they are inexpensive, provide instant gratification and keep boredom from setting in. Perennials require an initial investment, but when properly tended faithfully provide beauty year after year, generally becoming fuller and more lush with each year of growth, being designed for the long haul. The lesson encouraged us to be a perennial- long lasting, enduring, steady and faithful AND to not be discouraged during dormant seasons but to “tend to your soul and it will reward you with years of lush blooms.” I thought the lesson applied to many other things as well, including friendship. (See the inside of the card.)
“Father, be the gardener of my soul. Amen.”

Oh, Angie, this is beautiful, and thank you so much for sharing about today's devotional. I love the application of perennial versus annual, and I can certainly identify with that here in South Florida where one could easily continue to spend a lot of money each year for flowers that bloom and quickly die after a season. Friendship is a wonderful investment, and it's a joy when you have a dear friend like Sharon. She is going to love this card. Thanks for sharing it, sweet Angie! Hugs! xoxo

Angie, this card is gorgeous! Beautiful papers and gorgeous sentiment (love the embossing). Sharon is going to love it. I met my best friend, Sharon, at church about 20 years ago. Our remaining parents ended up marrying each other about 10 years ago and we became sisters. Her Dad ended up being my Dad too and they have both been the best blessings in my life. Lovely card and lovely post!!! Hugz
