This week’s Friday Free For All Challenge (F4A424- “Duuuuuuuude!!” - 4/6/1, was to make a card for a guy, any age guy for any occasion.
I had 3 get well cards that I needed for 3 very different guys. This is my 3rd card for the challenge, this one for my dad, who has been having some health issues. HeÂ’s an old-time rancher and doesnÂ’t like being sick, so I wanted to send an upbeat card that would make him smile.
This cute card surfaced when I was looking for inspiration for another card. It was one I had received as a thank you from a friend, and I thought it might be just the thing to use for a quick, happy card for my dad.
There was a problem with this card, though....and it was a BIG one in my mind. The artist had drawn in a bright red Coke can in the Little cowpokeÂ’s back jeans pocket and it was hideous! I tried positioning a sentiment panel to hid the thing and it looked awful. In desperation I tried coloring over the red can with different kinds of markers and it was NOT pretty...to get rid of that smeary mess I took a craft knife and cut it out of the card front, hoping I could blend colors on the panel underneath to disguise the hole. As you might have guessed, that didnÂ’t work either!
The only solution left to rescue the card was to find something to stuff in the hole to cover it up. After much trial and error, I ended up using some vintage red rayon seam binding from my stash to fill the hole. I twisted and spritzed and fiddled with a short piece of it, stuffed it in the hole and let it dry. It is supposed to look like an old frayed bandana. Not sure that it does in the photo, but in real life it looks pretty good.
The rest of the card was simple to assemble, with the finishing touch being a simple die cut scripty Hugs sentiment spanning the front of the card.
I think my dad will like this card, hope you do, too!
Thanks for moseying by and taking a gander at my Little Buckaroo get well card.

Susy! This is fabulous, and I love this little "dude" with the red bandana hanging out of his back pocket! You surely rescued this little fella, and it's a fabulous card! I love the simple mat with the sweet "hugs" die across the bottom! I love it! Hugs!
