Hi, all! Today I have a bit of an interpretation of sketch challenged 684, if you will. In fact, I created this card side-by-side with another (which I will upload eventually), intending both to follow the sketch, but with the size of this lovely rose I wanted to work with, I just couldn't quite get anything to fit very well.
I fell in love with this rose stamp months ago, and when I saw it on clearance at Hobby Lobby last week, you can bet your bottom dollar I wasted no time in putting it in my basket! (Anyone else really bummed out that Hobby Lobby has decided to downsize their paper crafting department? :( They have been my #1 place to go for such supplies... I am going to be feeling pretty lost!) It is all sorts of perfect for coloring, and I knew I wanted to do watercoloring with it yesterday on my day off (yay for a holiday to myself, especially when I did most of my cleaning list last week to make sure Monday was as free as could be!).
This rose really inspired me to create something for the Irresistible Inking Techniques course I took as part of the Altenew Educator Certification Program I am super honored and excited to have been selected to participate in! I love using my ink pads for everything they can do, rather than just simply inking up stamps themselves. .. so, I used my ink pads as my "watercolors" for this card.
This card was birthed as a companion alongisde another that I really wanted to get done yesterday. I hadn't intended on doing this year's Mother's Day card this early, but once I got started on the other card (for which I originally heat embossed and watercolored two roses), I realized how much my mom would enjoy this, so here it is! (Now, who is going to remind me come Mother's Day that I already have this card made??? LOL)
Thanks so much for the great sketch challenge, and thank you for viewing my card!
Blessings,
C

This is gorgeous! Your mom will truly appreciate this beautiful rose and beautiful card. I didn't know they were downsizing their paper crafting section....no!!! That is sad, indeed. But this card isn't sad at all. Love the embossed background and the heat embossing on your beautifully watercolored rose and then the strip of bling. Lovely!

So beautiful. Love the gold embossed roses. Fabulous coloring. The embossed background is a nice touch. I'm so glad the Sketch Challenge inspired you to make this gorgeous card. A lovely Mother's Day tribute. TFS
