As I am always trying to use up retired products that are lingering in my craft room I found that the Coastal Cabana cardstock suited perfectly with my new bright 2017-2018 In-Colours. I wanted this to be a fun card as it is for one of my young nephews. So this is what I used for the base.
For some reason I just thought to use the corner ticket punch on the corners. I've not used this technique before but I really like the result so I will for sure be using it again. I also used it to punch the corners of the whisper white mat on the inside of my card.
This is also the first time I have made a card that opens this way. I usually do them flipping up or to the side but standing tall not laying out the way this card does. Again, not sure what made me do it this way but I likey and will do again!
I found it easier to create the inside of the card before the front. I did this by using the Make a Monster stamps to create a little monster scene and I added a little blurb from the Just Sayin stamp set. The hearts in the corner are from the Perpetual Birthday set.
Before adhering the googly eye I used a pencil to mark on the inside flap where the centre of the eye would be. I then used the smallest layering circle framelit to make the circle. I then closed the card and used a large glue dot to adhere the eye inside the hole.
I then used the two smallest layering circle framelits to make the basic black outline for around the hole.
Then I moved to the front of the card where I adhered the berry burst heart which is the largest of the three hearts on the punch. I used basic black ink to stamp the large "U" onto lemon-lime twist cardstock and cut it out using my snips.
I found that the card was still a little plain so I decided to add a small strip of lemon-lime twist cardstock down the left side and that really tied it all together for me.
Thanks for checking my card out.
