Made as a Design Team card for Try Stampin' -Or Not- On Tuesday sketch challenge #345: http://trystampinontuesday.blogspot.com/ using the optional theme "Halloween".
Given Kaylin's sketch, I knew I wanted to make a fence for the horizontal sketch element, and moon for the round element, so my card design grew from there.
I started by cutting a Whisper White panel to the standard 4"x 5-1/4" size. I wanted to create a mask for my moon, so I punched a 2" circle out of a sticky note so that part of the circle would include the circle. I stuck the circle onto the Whisper White panel where I wanted the moon to be, then proceeded to sponge Memento Tuxedo Black all over the panel. I then filled in the less heavily colored areas with Elegant Eggplant sponging, and finally used Blue Bayou to further fill in - especially around the moon.
I then removed my circle mask, and stuck the part of the sticky note that had the circle hole in it so it aligned perfectly with the moon. I then used Daffodil Delight and Tuxedo Black sponging to create the color and texture of the moon.
Creating the fence isn't hard... just time consuming. I cut a 1-1/2" wide strip of Basic Black cardstock, then sliced it with my paper trimmer into about a dozen 1/4" wide "fence slats". Each slat I nipped the two corners off an end that would be the top of the fence, then glued each one down using Tombow Multipurpose Liquid glue. I then cut two long strips of Basic Black cardstock to form the horizontal "runners" for the fence, and glued them down on top of my slats. I liked how it turned out!
I had just gotten my new SU "Fox Builder" punch, so used that to punch out the body, head and tail of my cat using Early Espresso cardstock. I stuck him together with Mini Glue Dots, then mounted him with pieces of Adhesive Foam Strips to raise him above the fence to add depth to the card.
Finally, I stamped my sentiment on a scrap of Crushed Curry cardstock, and matted it with Basic Black. This was also attached to the main panel using Adhesive Foam Strips.
The card isn't really a difficult one to create, but I gave it a difficulty rating of 3 because of all the time and care required to make the fence.
