The thing that most drew me to this sketch was the suggested stitching lines. (I love the added, but subtle, texture stitching gives!) I needed a birthday card to send to Send a Smile 4 Kids, and had this cute hedgehog piece from "The Story of Fall" ephemera pack. It was originally a rectangle shape, but I die cut it with a circle die to make it fit the design. I used selective inking on the greeting. The stamp is on 2 lines, and I didn't feel like cutting it if I didn't have to. So I masked off the "happy" and stamped the "birthday" with Cup o' Joe. Then I cleaned the stamp thoroughly, masked off the "birthday," and stamped "happy" next to my first impression. And they lined up perfectly--the first time!!! I cut that into a strip. I cut a panel of patterned paper, adhered a strip of light teal cardstock on either side, & adhered a strip of dark teal cardstock on either side of that. Then I ran it through my sewing machine, doing a zigzag stitch with teal thread down both long sides of the center panel. I also cut a banner, lightly glued it to my panel, and stitched through the top of that to secure it. I kind of wish, though, in hindsight, that I had kept true to my flipping of the sketch, and put the banner on the other side to balance out the image. But the holes from the stitching were permanently pierced, and I wasn't starting over, so I just left it. Live and learn! I trimmed the end of the greeting strip so it would tuck under the hedgehog circle, and glued it & my image down. I cut a party hat from the same patterned paper as the banner, and glued it in place. Finally, I added a bit of decoration to the hat with Liquid Applique, & adhered my panel to a white card base..
