I saw the set Spooky Cat stamp set and thought the detail was a wonderful thing. But I didn't see anything out there that showcased the owl, mouse and or the cat in their "natural" habitat. So I just had to step up to the plate. Thanks for looking, and let me know what you think.
Details:
Fresh Fig: 4 1/4" x 11" = base
Painted Autumn DSP: 5 1/4" x 4" = matte
Very Vanilla: 5" x 3 3/4" = main picture
Very Vanilla: (2) at 5" x 3/4" = Leaves (qty: 14)
Very Vanilla: 1" x 2" = Owl
Crumb Cake: 1/2" x 3" = Log
I stamped the Owl in Crumb Cake and filled in his beak and toes with Crushed Curry, and used Soft Suede to stamp his "eyes". I used the Soft Suede Marker to fill in the spots on his feathers, avoiding the spots around his eyes. I shaded around his body and the wings/chest/tail area to give him some dimension, then fussy cut him out.
BEFORE I ran the Very Vanilla through the Woodland TIEF, I used temporary tape to hold the owl on the OUTSIDE of the TIEF, so that I know just where to place the Vanilla cardstock to run it through the folder. I then applied the Crumb Cake ink directly to the Woodland TIEF, then placed my Vanilla where I wanted it to be and ran it through the Big Shot. (Remove your Owl first!!!!)
The leaves were the small leaves from Swirly Bird stamp set and I stamped them in Old Olive, Crushed Curry & Cajun Craze, with their veining being stamped in Soft Suede. I cut out with the corresponding die from the Swirly Scribbles Die set.
The underbrush was actually from the Jar of Love stamp set that I stamped in Old Olive, Garden Green, & Crushed Curry. I also used the "wheat" looking stamp from Jar of Love and stamped it in Cajun Craze. I used the smallest fern from Awesomely Artistic and stamped it in Mossy Meadow. **NOTE** Stamp your hidden mouse first in Soft Suede.
The log was just a strip of Crumb Cake that I stamped with the "lined" stamp from Spooky Cat in Soft Suede and distressed the sides of it as well as sponged on some color from Soft Suede. Wrinkle it up/distress it a bit and "ta-dah!!" you have a log. Apply with dimensionals slightly covering your mouse and then add your leaves where you want them.
***Last minute note about the owl, I did cut on both sides of the branch that he is sitting on with an X-acto knife so that I could slip the tail of my Owl behind the branch to make it more realistic. I also partially cut around his feet so that they could sit on top of the branch, then I adhered him in place with a dimensional
