I created this for a former student of my mom's, whose birthday is next week. (He reconnected with her on Facebook, and is my friend there now as well!) He likes cats, so I thought this image would be perfect! I stamped the image onto a piece of watercolor paper with Charcoal ink, and colored it with my Inktense pencils. I used a damp paintbrush to pick up the color from the pencils, and apply it to the paper. Once that was dry, I went over the eyes with a black glaze pen & the whiskers with a white gel pen, just to help them pop. I kind of think, though, I should have left the whiskers alone on the orange kitty, since they don't seem to show up as well. For the banner, I cut a longer strip than I needed, and stamped & heat embossed the greeting on it. I scored where I wanted the ends of the center part to be, and then scored a bit farther from each of those lines. I cut the ends into V-shapes, and folded on the score lines. I adhered the middle section with foam tape so it won't get crushed in the mail, and glued the ends flat to the card. Even though I've used this sketch before, I had a bit of a time with the mat for the little banner in the upper right. I finally just glued my patterned paper banner onto a piece of the green cardstock, measured a 1/8" border on 3 sides, and cut around it that way, instead of cutting the mat and then adhering the banner. Hopefully I can remember that for next time! Thanks for looking!
