I chose to feature the Dry Embossing Technique for this challenge.
To make the card, I used a card base of Stampin' Up!'s Hello Honey cardstock, with a Basic Black matting for the main panel, which is a pattern for the retired 2010 Sweat Pea Designer Series Paper. I chose the pattern because I had the Sarasota stamp with a radiating pattern that I used in the small center panel that matched the paper.
The yellow floral pattern DSP was cut to 5" x 3-3/4", then dry embossed using the Darice Large Petal embossing folder to put a large embossed pattern on the paper. It was matted with a panel of Basic Black measuring 5-1/4" x 4".
The central Basic Black label was die cut using SU's Labels Collection die (the smallest die in the set), which was mounted to the patterned panel using Adhesive Foam Strips to give the card added depth.
The central So Saffron rectangular panel was cut 2"x 1-1/2", then sponged on the edges with Hello Honey ink. The flower stamp was from SSC, but I no longer have the name of the set. I used Memento Tuxedo Black ink to stamp the flower. Then used misc tiny pearls for the center of each blossom. The panel was then adhered to the black label using Tombo glue.
The tiny punched flowers were made with an unlabeled punch I bought many years ago that makes three different sizes of flowers. I punched these from Hello Honey cardstock. Each tiny flower was centered with a tiny pearl, then glued to the upper left and lower right of the So Saffron panel.
The final step was to create the horizontal banners at the bottom of the card. I used my Stampin' Trimmer to cut 1/2" wide strips from Basic Black and Hello Honey cardstock. The "tails" were cut with Paper Snips by making a small cut in the center of one end of the strip, then cutting toward the top of that small cut from each of the corners. These two banners were glued them to the front of the card. Because my birthday sentiment was too tall for a 1/2" strip, I cut the So Saffron at 3/4", then stamped the "happy birthday" using Memento Tuxedo Black ink. This larger banner was trimmed like the other two, then glued centered over the slightly longer banners.
The card is more of an traditional design and coloring, which would be appropriate for more mature recipients (in my opinion).
