Leave it to me to try a new technique when I'm making a last-minute card. I wanted to use this sentiment because my Dad raised me alone since I was 4, but I'm not used to making the sentiment the focal point, rather than an image. I decided to use a star stencil and my new distress inks to make a background for the sentiment. It took a few tries, and I had to switch from a Matte Coated cardstock to Gina K's Heavy Weight cardstock because the heat gun was warping the paper too much for a one-layer card. The Gina K didn't blend quite as well as the Matte Coasted, but it held up better under heat. I clear embossed the sentiment, then made the background. I need to play with these inks more, but this is good enough for my first time. I added some enamel dots and stars to bring a little more visual interest to the layout.
