The MIXX challenge is to make a Manly card, The F4A is about Machines and Tools. IOW, make a masculine card.
This isn't going to be a Father's Day card, my Dad passed just 2 months ago. This was made in honor of him. When he was a very young man, he was in the US Coast Guard. Thus the sailboat.
I started out by cutting a wavy stencil out of scrap c/s. I used this to make the water with the Faded Denim and Salty Ocean. How to do the top part... I started sponging the Salty Ocean, but didn't like the look. So I got the white Lumiere paint and mixed it with a little water and some Faded Denim RI. Applied with a sponge, but it didn't work. Got the idea to use alcohol inks, it is a MIX challenge after all. That worked! I even swiped it across the ocean part. Much better.
While I had the white Lumiere paint out, I used a stencil brush to go across the tops of the waves.
The dark sky needed something, in comes the MB cloud dies. I used the negatives as stencils, using a little black and white ink and applying with a sponge.
This was die cut with the oval die. Put it on top of the metallic white scalloped oval, adhere to the card base, add the ship, which is on dimensional adhesives, add the Wish and call it done! I wanted to use the Dream die cut, as my Dad was a big dreamer, but that die cut didn't fit. Dang!
Anyhow, one card for 2 challenges! Hopefully all of this makes sense,
TFL!

Lovely card to honor your father, Jennifer. The sky and sea are so beautifully done and are perfect for your sailing ship. The metallic CS give a lovely shimmer as moon on water.

So sorry for your loss. This card is a beautiful way to honor him. I like the way you created the waves and the clouds. All the work was worth the end result.

All that wonderful sheen for the stormy sea is marvelously done for this handsome sea fairing card, Jennifer. Love that you die cut from black card stock. Makes for a very dramatic scene.

My husband just came into the den, and saw this, and said "Oh, that's pretty".. I couldn't agree more. What a wonderful card in honor of your Dad. My condolences to you, my friend. Loved reading your process of doing this manly card. And I like the fact that the wish die fits perfectly on this.
