Hi everyone, this is my fourth card for the week and I really wasn't going to do anymore but couldn't resist the technique challenge that Sabrina gave us for this week found here; TLC639 ~ Smack Down Technique ~ {05/22/2017} by Cook22 at Splitcoaststampers
Like Sabrina I had never done it and there were so many gorgeous cards in the gallery with it I just had to give it a go.
The second thing that made me do another card was Sallie's (aka hobbydujour) drop dead gorgeous card found here; *SC646 To the Moon and Back by hobbydujour at Splitcoaststampers
Sallie's card is for the sketch challenge found here; Sketch Challenge 646 {05/24/2017} by thecircleguru at Splitcoaststampers
I have stayed as true to the challenge sketch as possible (I'm so literal it borders on OCD).
First of all I resized the sketch to fit the silver background allowing for the borders. I printed the sketch out and cut it up to make templates for each of my triangle elements.
Element 1 & 2 were cut out of white blending card and element 4 was the watercolour paper.
I already had the piece of watercolour paper that I had created at the beginning of the month when I received some powdered watercolour paints for my birthday. I flicked water over this paper by dipping my fingers in a shallow bowel of water then just flicking them, I let this stand for a few minutes while I did the other two elements.
Element 2, I stamped the greeting (twice to get a good print, don't you just love the Misti) then once again with Versa Mark then heat embossed, I sponged around the edge with SU Brilliant Blue and that was that one done.
Element 1 and time for the smack down woo hoo. I decided to go with just the one colour Brilliant Blue and I was careful not to over work it. I'm thrilled with the result. This technique is just brilliant for creating backgrounds and I'm sure I will be using it again, thanks so much for showing it to me Sabrina and thanks for including the video, it makes it so much easier when you can see whats going on lol.
I returned to my watercolour paper which was now dry and randomly stamped little silver stars over it in various sizes, I positioned all the triangle elements on the silver card making sure the borders were all equal (this was the most difficult) attaching them with double sided tape.
I cut the focal star/snowflake four times, three times in Smoky slate and once in silver then I sandwiched them all together with PVA glue making sure I didn't use too much glue that would come through onto the silver star. When doing this I use a pair of tweezers to make sure all the layers are lined up correctly.
I attached the focal element with PVA glue made an insert for the card signed the back and that's all folks...have a wonderful creative rest of the week, cheers Marg

Blue and silver is fab for Christmas and this card is so fresh and modern looking. I've loved the few cards for the TLC which used snowflakes, I can see that they work wonderfully with the technique and am looking forward to trying out a snowflake card myself.

Beautiful Christmas card, Marg. Love how you created one of the DPs yourself and combined it so wonderfully with other DPs. The glittered star/snowflake in the center is a terrific addition.
