Yay another 2 page LO completed and just in time for the end of April...well beginning of May where I live but I did start it 2 days ago and after 11 hours work over 3 days I finally got there. It wasn't easy.
This LO is for a Music Challenge and I had an idea on how I wanted the LO to look. Is the final anything like I envisaged? Nope. Was it easy.....yep and nope. The easiest part was sticking it all down
The process was long and frustrating. By the 2nd evening I had lost my mojo and decided to forget the LO, but today it finally came together. Hurrah!
I originally tried to create a beach effect so out came the gesso, stencils, pastes and it ended up looking like a muddy gritty mess. So out comes the gesso again and more ink spraying but this time just in a 2-tone look. Much better.
Then off I go tearing papers, distressing the edges and had even got out my colour wheel (gosh why haven't I been using this tool before). Mmmm....not sure about the colour co-ordination even if the wheel does show it. Then I notice it needs a shade darker ink so more spraying, splattering. Still not doing it for me, and after 2 days of trying a mixed media effect, I toss the 2 page background paper on my "I can use that on something else" pile, and out comes some white bazzill cardstock. I'm thinking that's better but it's still lacking something.
More papers found, plus I'd also cut out 2 huge circles supposedly to resemble record/CD disks. Chopped those down but too much white space now. (I really need to give more white space a go one day ).
I'd also been on the site for the event which is held annually on one of our main beaches. It's a big event for young people (and old) who like what me and my hubby call BOOM, BOOM, BOOM music (perfect for this challenge ), and printed off past event mini posters. Another eureka moment and circles cut and now I have my record labels. Well, sort of
Still too much space for me, but I had seen in my stash some patterned paper with thongs (flip flops) on...fussy cut those and there would have been a lot of these at this festival. Edges and torn papers inked and all stuck down. Music notes stamped and fussy cut.
Phew that was a long process, lots of inky fingers, stash everywhere but I got there. Now onto May.....
Thank you for taking time to read my long winded process and looking at my LO.
Happy Monday and week
