Made as a Design Team for for Try Stampin' -Or Not- On Tuesday sketch challenge #322: http://trystampinontuesday.blogspot.com/ with an optional inclusion of "dimensional layers".
I wanted to make a card that could be used for various occasions: sympathy, get well, birthday, etc. So I chose the blue color family to give me the flexibility I wanted for any gender.
The top Whisper White panel was stamped very simply with the floral branch from Stampin' Up! "Thoughts & Prayers" using Night of Navy ink. The bottom Marina Mist panel was stamped with a sentiment from the same stamp set using Night of Navy as well.
I wanted the dragonfly to stand out, but use the same colors as the card, so I die cut the flight of dragonflies from the SU "Detailed Dragonfly Thinlits Dies" using Whisper White and Night of Navy cardstock. I then hand trimmed the bottom-most dragonfly from the connected flight from each color, and offset them slightly with the white on the bottom. They were stacked and attached to one another using a Mini Glue Dot.
From my stash of ribbons (which I keep in a lovely antique oak ribbon case inherited from my husband's grandparents), I chose a blue color that was just a bit brighter than the Night of Navy so it stood out as a separator between the two panels. The ribbon was glued with Tombo glue. Then the offset dragonfly was attached with another Mini Glue Dot.
Finally, I used three Recollections Enamel Dots to finish of the card per the sketch challenge. I located them a little differently because I wanted them to be a faint enhancement, rather than more of a feature had they been at the top of the card.
