The hardest part of this LO was knowing when to stop....oops.
This 2 page LO was intended to be on white paper but after spending a few weeks playing with inks and pastes I just had to have a play. Unfortunately the best laid plans of mice and men sometimes go awry and this LO did. I got a teeny bit carried away with the sprays and even baby wipes couldn't move this ink. In the end I decided to run with it.
The papers I chose were all beautiful and looked amazing with the photo when I first started...yes I know I should have left them on white and I may end up taking them all off and starting again.
I started by part covering a beautiful pink and white script paper with gesso.....and then spreading paste through the stencil. So far so good. Inks chosen were based on the colours of my son's friend who he escorted to her Year 12 ball in 2008. A few squirts and water added and they did their magic. Time for the baby wipes when I realised this ink was not going anywhere. More water....mmm...time to keep going.
By this time the paper was starting to warp so I glued it onto another beautiful paper. A few tears and rips here and there, distress edger out and I was in my element.
More tearing of papers, stickers added, flowers cut and gesso added on the edges. I'm loving this medium.
Still lacking something so I start raiding my emphera packs and cut down some borders. Still not right so out comes the paintbrush and distress ink and off I go edging all the papers.
By this time I'm starting to feel a little dizzy from all the colours and decide it needs to be softened a little. More gesso added, flicks of water, white paint...gosh this mixed media is fun but by now I just want this LO finished. I've got 4 more challenges to do.....!!
Still something missing when I spy my stamps...add some stitch effect on the edges and I'm happy.
Pity about that b/g paper...it was so pretty. Hubby says I thought you were scrapbooking, not painting and why are these pages looking like a wedding. They were just friends...oh dear!
The 2nd page is a continuation of the same techniques with lots more items added out of my stash.
My word....those inks are vibrant.
Thanks for taking time to look at my LO. Happy day

Jayne, you are so funny! And this page is wonderful! I love your description of your technique! Your dabbing, squirting, tearing and everything else your did, has created a masterpiece. You said you didn't know when to quit; I always quit too soon! I love your mixed medium page with its stitching and stenciling and wonderful color! Well done!

Oh dear, this is so funny and the way we get involved with the process that we sometimes forget the original idea!! Too much fun you were having with some amazing results for your page!! I think this should be framed! I love the colors that pick up the colors on the side of her dress. I assume they are on the dress and not a slip of that ink!!! :-)
So many wonderful textures and color!!

Ladies, I did change it (slightly). I went over some of the darker colour spots with gesso, used baby wipes and its now softer. I also went around all the papers and edges with my black gelato pen to give them some definition. Unfortunately I got some on the gesso and after rubbing it in, it went muddy in parts. All fixed and a couple of embellishments added to cover up any muddy spots LOL. I'm learning
