I'm not very happy with this card...but I tried the technique and like it, I didn't have a white gel pen so used a water color pencil dipped in water to make the dots but I should have stopped at only some dots I think there are too many now I punched the butterflies out some left overs on my desk

Anita, I think it is lovely. You could try dots of acrylic paint or gesso, using the handle end of a very small tipped paint brush or a stylus. Still it is a lovely anniversary card.

This turned out very nice - I really like the chalkboad look you gave it around the edges - it brings out the texture of your linen paper quite nicely.

I don't know why you're not happy with this, I think it's beautiful. I like the angled layout, and the linen textured card you use always looks good. Like Kathy, I think the dots look like a butterfly trail. A lovely birthday garden for somebody!
