I made covered notebooks last year for gifts for my long-time convention roommates. This one was for my niece, who's also my upline. She's real creative, so that was why I kind of focused on that. I used bits of old lace, ric-rac, buttons, fabric (the background), as well as hodgepodge type elements to embellish. I cut out the little 'pin-cushion' with pinking shears, stitched by hand around the edges, used tiny straight pins and a safety pin to decorate it. The little round silver charm says 'create'. I loved doing these...each one was made especially with that person in mind. I think the girls loved them too...I got the phrase off an internet quotes site...it says: Happiness lies in the thrill of creative effort and the joy of achievement. by Eleanor D Roosevelt. Very fitting, don't you think?
