When I first showed this LO to my hubby his comment was "that's a bit overpowering isn't it?". I told him he just doesn't get it There is a lot happening on this LO but I had such fun and wanted to have a play with textures. Love mixed media so this LO will go into 2 challenges
The photos are of our youngest son relating to his first 2 jobs after school. Not the greatest photos but I remember him asking me to take a photo of him in his new ToysRUs shirt.
Papers are from my stash and I started with the yellow textured paper. Love it, but unfortunately everything is starting to lift. I've tried double sided tape, glue....any ideas on how to fix everything down?
Other papers were scraps and I just tore the edges and edged them in black. The idea for the LO was from a Becky Higgins sketch but its turned out nothing like her LO.
As I can't doodle, I used a new stamp set and stamped the stitched lines onto the yellow after using a stencil and modelling paste. The white wasn't doing it for me, so out came the gelato's and water and before I know it I've painted on yellow, orange and blue onto the texture. By now I had truly decided to jump in and just play and see what happened.
A postcard out of our letterbox from a local Real Estate company was cut up as I liked the words and thought they would suit the LO. Yes, I keep everything and try to use somewhere in a LO...I'm a hoarder I tried sticking them down with Gesso but on the texture it didn't work so dimensional magic was used and also on top to give a 3D effect. Gesso and gelato's were used to edge around the words. I got a little carried away stamping numbers which now the LO is finished you can't see.
Embellishments added out of my stash and a title and I thought I had finished, but no, out comes more gesso, more gelatos, some splatters and I had to tell myself to stop.
Thanks for taking time to look at my LO. Happy weekend

Great layering, and texture. I really like how you did this LO. First thing I thought of was that I never got a photo that I can remember, (I will look) of our son folding papers for hie paper route. He did it for several years every day of the week! This is fabulous mixed media work! Love it! Thanks for sharing!

It's a fun layout, and if it is busy - isn't that what youngsters are! I look back to when I had just finished school and jeepers, the pace of life was hectic!! It's probably too late now but if neither wet glue nor tape will hold the yellow paper down, could you stitch it next time you want to use it? On a layout like this a few staples would fit in really well. I often use something like eyelets or Brad's or stitching through buttons if I'm worried a layer won't stay stuck.

I was going to suggest stitching your layers into place, but then I read the stitches are stamped! Wow, they look great and they add a cool touch of definition to the top of the layout. And way to go with recycling the real estate card. The sentiments fit the working theme so well.

Thank you ladies.....I had such fun making this LO.
Cheryl, I ended up stapling the top part of the page as mentioned by one of the ladies and it added to the fun look.
We are back from our short "birthday" trip away and hopefully I will find time to get one more page done before 3rd April. Happy weekend everyone
