Rather than go with traditional sponging for the ombre feature, I decided to use my Stampin' Up! Outdoor Adventure dies to create a receding range of mountains where the colors go from a bright green to a range far away where the green has become less intense due to mountain mists/haze. I used four different green cardstock colors for the mountains (Old Olive, Lucky Limeade, Pear Pizzazz, and Pistachio Pudding). The foreground was a stand of pine trees cut from Mossy Meadow.
As I laid the mountain ranges down, the Dapper Denim showed through in places, so I used the negative images from the die cuts to fill in with a contrasting green color to make the mountains stand out without the blue showing through. The snow die was used both as cut, and reversed to give more variety to the snow covered peaks.
The tent is also from the Outdoor Adventure die set. Instead of stamping it solid with the tent stamp that came in the bundle, I used a retired background SU stamp with a linen pattern. I inked it with Crumb Cake and stamped it on a scrap of Crumb Cake cardstock. I then used a ruler to draw a line from the tent top to the tent base with a Stampin' Write Chocolate Chip marker. I sponged the side of the tent with Crumb Cake to give it a shadow for dimension.
The tent was mounted to the vertical panel using Adhesive Foam Strips after stamping the birthday sentiment using my stamp positioner. These small greetings from the Teeny Tiny Wishes stamp set seem to always go on crooked unless I use the positioner.
Finally, the vertical panel was centered on the Early Espresso card base, and glued down with Tombow glue.
I think I've met the three card challenges this week in a rather unique way, and hope you enjoy the card. Some lucky male relative is going to enjoy this birthday card, I'm sure!
I rated the card as a difficulty "4" just because of all the fussing you have to do for the mountains.

Wow I'm loving the outdoorsy masculine theme in this card. Great job! I know a couple of guys who would instantly like receiving this card. Thanks for sharing with the Watercooler Wednesday challenge (WWC107) this week.

Donna this is such a fun, masculine card, perfect for an outdoorsman. All those earthy tones work well with the blue. The images are simple but just shout out to the guys who want to get away from the city and rough it. Thanks so much for joining our Watercooler Wednesday Challenge this week.

Love how you've used those dies! And the shades of green really pop against the deep blue of the background. Thanks for joining us at Watercooler Wednesday.
