I just melted when I saw this stamp online. Such an adorable squooshy mooshy pile of pinch-their-cheeks baby elephants! I don't think the person receiving this card must be told to "smile". I think it's just going to happen. But I felt the pile of little darlin's needed something to add balance to the card. They are after all a little weighty.........and just might slip off the side of the card.
That settled, I of course couldn't just leave it at that. Still felt it still needed a little somethin'. Figured a tweeny weeny little butterfly on the SMILE might better balance out the pudgy pile. Then couldn't resist sneaking in a few more.
At that point coloring the little pile of delights in some manner seemed required. But I thought if I colored them in solidly that would add too many extra pounds to them and put the card off balance again. I was thankful to note that the envelope the stamp came in pictured them just shadowed in. I've never been much good at adding shadows to drawings and am ever grateful to the stamp designers to include the solution to my dilemma. Perfect! Hurrah for packaging gurus! I shaded them in almost exactly with a light grey colored pencil. And I'm fairly pleased with the results.
I originally bought this stamp for our granddaughter's birthday next September, but couldn't wait that long to conjure something up with it. I figure I know a whole pack of people who could use a smile, so they'll soon be on their way.
Thanks for stopping by....hope you had a smile today!
