The sketch was created by Vickie Milyard (http://stampingvickisvisions.blogspot.ca/) featuring three stars. I had been itching to try alcohol inks on metal that I'd seen on Pinterest (https://goo.gl/zx0XsC), and wanted to create not just stars, but GALAXIES!
I first taped down three strips of Silver Foil Furnace Tape (NOT Duck Tape!!! since you want a shiny smooth surface to work with) onto a 4"x5.25" piece of Basic Black cardstock. The overlapping was trimmed even with the cardstock, and the foil was burnished with a bone folder to make it smooth (doesn't ABSOLUTELY need to be smooth since you will run it through your embossing machine).
Using the Cuttlebug Divine Swirls Embossing Folder, I ran the foiled piece through my Big Shot to create a gorgeous swirly galaxy-look. Next, I used three bright alcohol inks and dripped them one at a time randomly on the embossed foil piece. I tilted the piece to make the ink run along the swirls. After each color I used a cheap paint brush to spread the ink and blend the colors together. Let this dry for quite a while (I dried mine for an hour).
You can leave it just like this for your card making, but since I wanted the look of outer space with swirling galaxies, I used a piece of paper towel to GENTLY spread black acrylic paint over the entire piece. This step did rub off a little of my alcohol ink, so be very gentle. The black highlights the embossed pattern, even if you aren't trying to get an outer space look.
The three "galaxies" on the right were created using the Stampin' Up! Swirly Scribbles Thinlits Dies. I did two on silver glitter cardstock, and one on gold foil cardstock. To make them stand out from the busy foil background, I cut a second galaxy swirl out of black paper for each of the three shiny galaxies. Using 2-Way Glue I attached the black swirls to the back of the silver/foil swirls, offsetting the black to the lower right to create a "shadow" that would highlight each swirl. I also used the centers from the die cuts and glued then back into the swirls' centers - gold center into the silver swirls, and silver center into the gold swirl. These galaxy swirls were mounted to the embossed foil panel using a piece of Adhesive Foam Tape in the center of each swirl. The intent was to raise the swirls to give them more depth, and to simulate floating in space.
The sentiment was die cut from the silver glitter cardstock using a QuicKutz word die. It was mounted using rolled up balls of Mini Glue Dots.
I love the rich colors you get with alcohol inks on metal, and will for sure try the technique again on future cards!

This is absolutely fantastic! Now I just have to buy alcohol inks and find furnace foil tape. We live in FL and I don't remember ever seeing it at Home Depot or Lowe's. However some people DO have furnaces here :-) Thanks for the great instructions. I have put your card in my favorites.
