My friend Pam and I thought it would be fun to play with the color challenge today. All I saw was the colors, I hadn't looked at the gallery at all, and it turned out that we both decided upon dragonflies. I made a mixed media tag. I started with a white piece of cardstock. I ink spray smashed markers that were as close to today's colors as possible. I then stamped inka gold over them. I stamped the dragonfly and masked him. I then layered flowers, a mixed media background and a coffee ring from a set called Java Time. I have been having fun using the coffee ring for mixed media projects. I then added more color to the flowers by watercoloring them. Since there was little green in my tag, I decided to color the flowers with the green. I added glue and glitter to the wings of the dragonfly and the flowers. I added sequins to two of the flowers and I added pearls on top of the sequins. For the body of the dragonfly, I did burned glue technique. I mixed some black acrylic paint with some Aleene's tacky glue. I then heated it with a heat gun. It bubbles and gives such a neat dimensional texture. I masked over the dragonfly and splattered black acrylic paint that I watered down to a very watery consistency so it would splatter better. Finished of the tag by adding some sheer ribbon.
