Needed a sympathy card for a family friend whose father past away. An avid outdoorsman at 87 years, he enjoyed walking his wooded property throughout the year rain or shine.
I first colorwashed with distressed inks on water color paper intending to portray a sunset at the end of a stormy day.
I chose this woodland scene stamp reminiscent of his personality. I inked the stamp with black pigment ink anticipating I could get a crisp look without embossing or re-inking, since I do not have a Misti.
What I recently learned about watercolor paper is the difference between cold press & hot press paper.
Cold press paper has more texture vs hot press paper which is smooth.
I used cold press paper which explains why my woodland scene is not as intense as I would have liked, nonetheless, am fine with the results knowing what I know now.
Thanks for looking.

What a lovely, thoughtful card Jeannie. Thanks for the tip about watercolour paper, I have often wondered. I buy those exclusive water colour pads.....with little Chinese kiddies finger painting on the front cover LOL.

How thoughtful of you to choose an image that reflected on the things your friend loved in his life! Beautiful card.

I sometimes have one idea and something better happens by accident. The softer look of the trees adds to the feeling of the rain just ending and the soft colirs of sunset. The way you added elements if the father's personality names this such a special card

This is such a special card for your friend. It is sure to remind him/her of their father's walks in the woods. The clouds are perfect....some sunshine but seeming that it could rain or just has and now a beautiful sunny sky appearing.
